Tide Tee

Oh Summer! I can finally say that we are in the midst of the greenest, most lush time of the year. I know heatwave has paralysed most of Europe in the past week, but here up North we have been lucky to enjoy warm (not hot) days with plenty of sunshine. Lucky us!

Last weekend was also one of the highlights of the year as it was the weekend of Jyväskylä Knit Festival. The event celebrated its 10th anniversary and oh boy, the knitters were there to join the party! It was jam packed, full of smiles and sunshine. Beautiful yarn, more inspiration that you can imagine and so many of my favourite people. The best part is every year the people: the conversations, meeting new people, and the inspiration from seeing everyone wearing their best knits.

I also published my new favourite T-shirt, Tide Tee, for the festival.

Tide Tee is designed in collaboration with Aara Yarn and yarn shop Ilo. Knitted in their Lauha base, a mix of merino wool and linen, this was just the perfect match for the summery tee. I went back to my favourites with the design: it’s knitted all in garter stitch, it features a crew neck and set-in sleeves worked in one piece. This was a new construction, well not new-new, but a new way of making the set-in sleeves - and combined with a European shoulder construction.

The fit is relaxed, with a slight A-line shape for the hem. It feels just enough of a tailored garment to still feel cosy. With simple details, like that reverse Stockinette stitch ridge working as a seam to keep the look crisp, it also keeps the knitting itself interesting. So fun to see the t-shirt take shape on the needles. And let’s not forget that blue colour, Taival! It is a big favourite of mine!

I’m really looking forward to seeing Tide Tees jumping on your needles! It’s one of those simple knits that you will cherish and wear for many years to come!
