A Ray of Sunshine: the Daisy Sweater
As the late summer sun shines through the frequent rain showers, I find myself craving knits that feel like pure joy on the needles. For a warmest in history summer in Europe, we have had one of the coldest and rainiest of July’s in a while. Now that we have turned the leaf to August, I hope we can enjoy some warm spells too. And if not, then that’s more than enough of a reason to maybe cast on something extra cheerful.
I am so incredibly excited to finally share my newest design with you all: the Daisy Sweater. If you are looking for a little extra warmth and a ray of sunshine to add to your knitted wardrobe, this is absolutely it. The Daisy Sweater is a seamless, top-down, round-yoke pullover with a wonderfully relaxed shape and a slightly cropped length that makes it perfectly effortless to throw on.
AS you can see, I simply had to knit the sample in my forever favourite colour: pink! I truly believe pink is the best neutral, and it brings such a vibrant, happy energy to this design. I know I could have knitted this in so many other colour combinations too, but the pinks will always have my heart! Maybe next I can make another version in graphic black and white?
This sweater was dreamed up in a very special collaboration with Botanical Yarn for Flock Fiber Festival 2026. The sample uses their gorgeous Air Blown Alpaca Cotton, which is an incredibly soft and cloud-like blend of Baby Suri Alpaca and Peruvian Pima Cotton. I used the delightfully bright Dahlia Winnie as the main colour, paired with Monarda for the contrast colourwork in the yoke. The fluffy texture of this yarn makes the colourwork pop beautifully while keeping the finished sweater incredibly lightweight and breathable.
One of my favourite things about this design is its versatility. I wanted to make sure it fits perfectly into your own daily life, so the pattern includes instructions for both a cozy long-sleeved version and a fresh, breezy short-sleeved tee. Because it is worked seamlessly from the top down, you can easily try it on as you go to adjust the length to your exact liking.
The easy, rhythmic two-colour stranded knitting and simple shaping make this an absolutely ideal project - even if this is your very first time knitting a sweater! Then the project is made classic and polished-looking with tubular cast-ons and bind-offs. It’s just those extra little touches that make your sweater even more beautiful.
The Daisy Sweater is officially out now! You can grab your copy of the pattern and check out Botanical Yarn’s beautiful colours to plan your own perfect palette. Happy knitting,
veera.
