Pace Socks

There is always something special about knitting for the people we love. Back in June, I set out to knit a birthday gift for my husband, looking for a design that would be practical, comfortable, and also fun (and simple) on the needles. Later that special birthday cast-on evolved into my newest release, the Pace Socks.

These socks are designed to be a reliable, everyday favourite. They are worked from the top down and feature a classic ribbed fabric. This ribbing not only stretches and recovers beautifully to ensure a snug, comfortable, and adaptable fit around the foot, but it also creates a wonderful, meditative rhythm as you knit. It truly is a project you can easily pick up and put down.

For the original sample, I chose the Silky Sock base by Nurja. It’s a rather special base and colour, but there are plenty of other options out there. And the best part is that the gauge for these socks is so versatile (32 sts and 40 rounds in 3×1 ribbing), so you can basically substitute any sock yarn for your pair.

But I must say that Silky Sock is a fantastic sport-weight yarn with a great balance between the durability that a good everyday sock needs and an essential touch of luxury against the skin. Who wouldn’t love a bit of silk on their feet, anyway?

If you are ready to cast on a pair for yourself or maybe a loved one, the pattern is now available to download directly here from my website as well as in my Ravelry store. And is you are quick, you can still enjoy the introductory discount! Use code PACE for 15% off until the end of today, Monday September 14th! Same code works here on the website and Ravelry too.

I’m getting excited to knit another pair of these. Maybe in pink - and for myself this time!
