There is always something special about knitting for the people we love. Back in June, I set out to knit a birthday gift for my husband, looking for a design that would be practical, comfortable, and also fun (and simple) on the needles. Later that special birthday cast-on evolved into my newest release, the Pace Socks.

On today’s post I wanted to dive a little deeper in a big question in sock knitting. When you are knitting socks, first you need to choose direction. Toe-Up vs. Cuff-Down; which one is right for you?

This might be a bit late for us all considering our sock KAL, but it’s nice to know about all the options for future reference! You might even use an alternative method for your second sock!

Sometimes a design begins with a texture or a colour. Sometimes with a feeling. The Fern Socks started with the image of something growing—soft and slow, unfurling stitch by stitch like a fern from the forest floor.
