Fleur Shawl

There’s a special kind of magic in Advent knits: the slow rhythm of daily making, the quiet anticipation of what comes next, and the joy of colour unfolding one shade at a time. I love how any type of advent knit or project will build the joyful atmosphere all throughout the month of December. I also know that this might just be one of the busiest months of the year, with plenty of expectations and pressure. So I hope we can all enjoy our advent projects as something relaxing, not as something we must add to our already packed to-do lists.

Fleur Shawl was my 2024 Advent Mystery design, created in collaboration with Botanical Yarn. Now, I’m so happy to share it as a single pattern — ready to be knit at your own pace, whenever you crave a bit of that December calm. Fleur Shawl is now available as a single pattern here and on my Ravelry store as well.

This shawl is a large V-shaped triangle, worked in total of 25 colours: twenty-four minis and one full 100 g skein. It’s a celebration of colour and texture, blending together brioche and garter stitch colourwork into a rhythmic, ever-changing journey. The stitches shift and flow as you go, revealing soft contrasts, gentle fades, and unexpected pairings.

In my mind Fleur Shawl feels like a walk through a garden in bloom, where each section of the day is opening into a new combination of hues and patterns, layered like petals unfolding in the light. I just love the simple playfulness in every transition, yet a sense of balance and calm that carries you all the way to the final stitch. You can use almost any advent calendar you might have stashed away, waiting for that perfect pattern. Or maybe even use full skeins and fewer colour, this patterns feels quite easy to mix with different colour schemes.

Whether you joined the original mystery or are discovering it for the first time, Fleur is a reminder of how joyful slow, intentional making can be, one small section at a time. Just what we need for the month of December.

Have you started your Advent project already? Maybe this is your sign!
