A diary for all my knitting and making
In Search of the Perfect Heel
How is our sock knit-along going on your end? So far I have finished one and a half new socks (of 2 new designs) and I’m also pretty excited to start one more new design idea… Sock knitting is a big deal for me this Spring! But other than that, I also wanted to chat a bit about the most feared and fun part of sock knitting: The Heel!
Finding that perfect Cast-On for Socks
Continuing my series of blog posts on sock knitting! We have already talked about bit about the yarn choices, now it’s time to cast on. This might be a bit late for us all considering our sock KAL, but it’s nice to know about all the options for future reference! You might even use an alternative method for your second sock!
Choosing the Best Yarn for Socks
Today I’m also starting a series of posts on sock knitting! I know this has been the theme this Spring, but it certainly started way earlier: socks are my new favourite little thing to knit. First and foremost it’s time to take a closer look at all the yarn options we have for sock knitting.
Spring Socks KAL
I’m thrilled to invite you to a Spring Socks KAL (a Knit-Along, if you’re new to the knitting lingo!) featuring any of my sock patterns. Whether you’ve knit them before or are casting on for the first time, this is your chance to join a cozy community of fellow sock knitters. We’ll share our progress, tips, favourite yarns, heel preferences, colour combos, and all the sock knitting joy.
Introducing the Fern Socks
Sometimes a design begins with a texture or a colour. Sometimes with a feeling. The Fern Socks started with the image of something growing—soft and slow, unfurling stitch by stitch like a fern from the forest floor.
Mandarin Socks
Another week - another new sock pattern. Maybe you can spot the theme of the Spring here for me: no surprise anymore, this season has been all about socks. Today the spotlight is on my newest pattern Mandarin Socks.
Cherry Good Socks
Simple socks are often the best socks! I love when I can find a good sock template, with a few well thought through details that I can follow pair after pair - and this, my newest pattern release, is exactly what I love.
Beanie Season
Beanie season is still gong strong! In addition to all the socks I have also been knitting quite a few beanies this winter - and yes, there are still some from the previous year too that I haven’t yet gotten quite ready. But today we are celebrating the two lovely finished beanies that are ready to jump onto your knitting needles!
Pino Socks
A third sock post in a row! Who knew this day would come?! Not me, but here we are. I’m completely head over heels into sock knitting right now. Preferably socks with some stripes and even better with some intarsia knitting.
The Joy of Sock Knitting!
Have you ever wanted to knit something small, portable, and endlessly customisable but perfectly fitting? That’s exactly why I fell in love with sock knitting - even if it took me 10 years or so. There’s something magical about turning just a simple skein of yarn into a perfectly fitted, cozy pair of socks. If you’ve never tried knitting socks before, let me share why you really should give it a go—and a few tips to help you get started.
